Peak 8X Slide Magnifier Loupe
This style of doublet makes a super-sharp,
mostly flat, virtually fully color-corrected
view without becoming too exorbitant on the price.
I find my eyes are more relaxed and I see tinier
detail than the cheaper loupes of the same power.
Looking at old Kodachrome slides is breathtaking.
I got a second for work…looking at small circuit
boards. Brilliant detail. I wish they had the
same optics in a base-less design. It does work
almost as well flipped, though.
This is the best loupe I’ve ever seen. You can see an extremely sharp image. If you want to use it to review slides, be aware you will need a light sources
We find that this loupe unit allows us to make quick quality reviews of our tissue slides without necessitating to place everthing beneath the microscope.
I’m certain that those who never took photos with actual film see loupes as being from an ancient age. But those who still have collections of slides and negatives, and might be digitizing them, will be grateful for having a slide loupe like the Peak 8X. It’s sharp border-to-border, and is just what one needs for examining 35mm slides and negatives. Great small tool, and a bit highpriced for a reason.
