Just swapped my Nissan Armada for a Toyota Prius. I love the Prius, but the horns it came with were very disappointing. After doing a small online research I found these horns. This kit in truth contains two horns: one 500Hz and the other 600Hz.

There are two versions of these horns: a lower pitched one that sounds like a typical American car horn (400Hz horn + 500Hz horn), and these horns which are somewhat higher pitched and sound like a European sports car (500Hz horn + 600Hz horn). I found sound recordings of both horns online and decisive that the sound of these horns would more fit the Prius. whether or not you want a more traditional sound, go with the lower pitched horns.

Installation was very easy. I was able to install in the stock horn locations; no relays required. I ran the grounds to the mounting bolts. I now have no problem being heard on the freeway.

i looked at several hella twin horn setups (owned the set found in griot’s catalog a outstanding deal of years ago) before finding these. i made a quick visit to youtube to see whether or not i could find sample sound bites of the hellas vs. these, which i did, and after listening to them decided to go with the piaa’s.

like another reviewer, i chose the higher tone (500hz and 600hz) piaa’s because to me they sound better, or more unique, than the lower tone ones, which sound like a stock american horn.

i installed these on a jeep wrangler, whose stock single factory horn is anemic and dangerous, since it might scarcely be heard. the piaa’s come with very clear instructions for installation. you merely match up one of 4 diagrams with your factory configured and then follow the simple steps in the instructions to wire them up.

you do not need a relay to install these. i did have to tap into my existent positive and negative factory horn wires, since i was going from one stock horn to dual horns. piaa provided the extra wiring to do this and the quality of the wiring and spade ends is excellent. i did have to go buy two female spade bits for the ends of the factory wires, since i had to cut those off the factory harness. crimping on new spade ends was not hard at all. the whole install took regarding 15 minutes and the dual horns fit absolutely in the stock location.

i am very, very satisfied with the piaa sports horns, in terms of both loudness and quality of the sound. i was a small skeptical because of their low price, but they in truth do deliver, and i think they are better than the more highpriced hellas. they seem well-made and combined with the outstanding instructions, i don’t see how you might go wrong. highly recommend.

I purchased these horns to replace the horn on my BMW bike. The space where the first horn was situated is fairly small. The horns have a plastic cover over their opening. I had to remove these covers to make the fit much easier since they add bulk in a small space. Luckily it is very easy to remove them. I think the cover removal alters the sound of the horns but my main objective was to have exceedingly piercing horns to get the attention of the occasional errant driver. They are very piercing and without a doubt you will get the attention of a driver coming blindly into your lane.

I spliced the horns into the existent horn wiring.

Bought this to replace the puny horn on my Subaru Impreza. Easy to install, once I got the bumper got rid of to access the stock horn location in front of the radiator. Do a Google search of “Subaru WRX bumper removal” and you’ll find a great video so a lot of guy did that outlined the procedure. Most other new cars are similar. I mounted one horn using the stock horn bolt and the second horn right next to it using a bolt for the hood latch. Using such a good deal of electrical spades, a tap (to split off the one positive wire for the second horn) and numerous heat shrink tubing I picked up at radio shack, I had the whole thing installed in just over an hour. Before reinstalling the bumper, test out each horn by unplugging the positive spade from the other, just to make sure it’s all working. By the way, no extra relay is needed. These horns don’t draw that much power.

As for sound, what a difference! This will grab the attention of inattentive drivers much better than the inefficient stock horn. I felt the higher “Italian Ferrari” pitched sound of this model suitable my Impreza better than the “American” car sound of the 400HZ + 500HZ model. although both will get the job done, it’s just whatever sound suits your taste.

The two higher tones of this impressive little 2 horn set has a definitive Euro flair that you don’t oftentimes hear in the U.S. The decibel level is loud enough to be distinctly heard without blasting or blaring. There is a video and sound sampling on youtube that sold me on this set, which substituted the anemic single tone bleating factory horn on my car. This is the perfective horn for smaller cars and a definite step up from any factory horn I’ve ever heard. Extremely easy to mount, with wiring options and hardware included for each 12-volt configuration. Foolproof and simpler I would have remunerated twice as much for the end result and ease of installation.

Went from a single factory horn on my 2010 4-Runner to a dual horn setup. It was easy to setup. I had to run to lowes to get a little electrical wire and some spades to manufacture the Y adapter to provide power to both horns. The horns work well and are in all probability 1 1/2 times louder than my first horn. When you honk, you want attention. Hopefully it will assist me in an emergency circumstance on the road.

After reading a review by another Amazon customer who retrofitted his R1200RT with this horn AND consulting with BMW Motorrad I went ahead and bought this product and had a local jack-of-all-trades install it is I am very satisfied with the end products

I’ll start by saying that I purchased these horns for a sport motorcycle (Triump Sprint S/T)… The factory horn on the bike was pathetic at best…. Meep, meep doesn’t command any sort of athority on the road, exceptionally on the high manner of The PIAA horns came with two horns, the 500Hz and the 600Hz… They are pretty close in size to just in regards to all the factory horns and fit nicely, as well as easily, where the factory horn sat… Pretty easy to manipulate the bracket that came with it as well, so tweeking position is simple too.

So, are they louder than the factory horns??? Mind you I only employed one of the two (that’s all I could merely fit on the bike), so I will state that using just one horn, I believe it is slightly louder than the factory horn, I imagine if someways you are able to mount both, they would certainly be louder than factory.

That being said, I do like the fact that the horn is slightly louder than factory, but more importantly the tone is to the full or entire extent different… Lower frequency tarvels longer, farther, and is more commanding… Deeper and not so wimpy is what I’m getting corpuscles I found the 500Hz too deep and like the sound of the 600Hz better, so that is what I employed Nice to have the 500Hz as a back up if ever needed. Price was pretty good for two horns and cheaper than what I have seen for just the 500Hz alone…

I do commend these as a more manly substitute to the childish factory MEEEP, MEEEP!!!

Amazon rapidly shipped out to me in fewer than 3 days using ordinary shipping, and I without apparent effort installed them into my Acura. (20min to install and another 15min to make the wiring connections water tight. They fit perfectly into the OEM horn mounting locations.

I’m very pleased with the louder sound it makes against the OEM horn that makes a whimpy “meep meep” sound. I bought the higher pitched version which suites import cars better. They don’t rather sound as good as a real air horn with compressor as I installed in my other car, but the small size made it possible for me to do a simple drop in installation.

These horns are a blast! (Pun intended:). For the small price, they take the dull moose horns in most American cars and make them into the sexy European higher tone ones we hear in every movie shot in Europe where the bad guy is rushing through traffic. Great way to make your import sound authentic, and great fun for other brands.

This kit comes with the 500 & 600 Mhz horns. Almost all cars in America have a 400 and 500 set. So, although you get both, you in truth only need to replace the 400 one in your car with the 600 one in the package. Sounds fabulous! So, it you can pick up just the 600 Mhz horn by itself, for a good price, that’s all you need. The horns have two spade connectors, which may or may not fit your auto setup. If you are at all handy, installing these is no big deal, BUT, for many cars, you WILL have to cut off the connectors in your car, and splice in new ones, so if you don’t even recognise what “splice” means, or you don’t want to cut a wire on your car, better to leave this one. Also, in my case anyway, had to go purchase two female ends (it comes with (2), NOT (4) – and for the 20 cents these cost, think they would be included.

All in all, a cheap fun way to spice up your vehicle!
